Emma Kohlmann, b. New York City, 1989, currently lives and works in Western Massachusetts. Graduated from Hampshire College in 2011 .Primarily works in watercolor and sumi ink. Kohlmann publishes her own artist's books and other ephemera such as records, zines and t-shirts. She has exhibited work throughout the United States, Montreal, Tokyo and Berlin.

エマ・コールマン
1989年ニューヨーク・シティ生まれ。現在はマサチューセッツ西部に拠点を置いている。2011年リベラルアーツ・ハンプシャーカレッジ卒。主に水彩絵具と墨を用いる。アーティスト・ブックだけでなくレコード、ジン、Tシャツ等も自費出版している。これまでにアメリカ、モントリオール、東京、ベルリンで個展を開催。

Secret Flower is a collection of watercolor drawings made in 2015-16. Kohlmann has made over 200 works on paper for KIT Gallery. The show is an assemblage of overtly carnal imagery, evoking the passion and distance between the viewer and piece. The works are hung in a series of grids throughout the gallery to give the effect of wallpaper.

「シークレット・フラワー」は2015年から16年にかけコールマンが紙に描いた水彩画コレクションの展示。本展のための200点書き下ろしとなる。あけすけな肉体描写は、観覧者と作品との間に熱情と隔たりを引き起こす。ギャラリー全体に格子状に並べられた作品は、壁紙の役割を果たしている。
